Pay up what they've asked for. Buy them a drink. Thank them. Never risk a friendship again by borrowing like this.

Completely agree with the last couple of posts. Seriosuly don't quibble on this for the sake of £60.

Plus the 'cash' may have been a SBT into an account, which would've had ~3% attached anyway.
  • I would agree with others. For the sake of £60 I would pay your friend. You are obviously were/are good friends if they have trusted you enough to take on debt on your behalf. That trust should be preserved.

Do you really think that your friend would diddle you out of this money, I don't know why they wont show you the statements. But I know 100% that any of my ;friends; would not do this to me.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • This person who at the time was very helpful! The historics since have been unbearable, so much so I have had to move house as I was being abused verbally, made to feel so bad I lost 4 stone in weight and made myself very ill, even though I was paying on time and paying exactly what this person asked. Anyone can fall into the trap of borrowing money from a so called friend, but to put up with the nightmare that I have had to put up with I will only pay what I owe. I will never fall into the trap again. I never asked they offered

They treated me so badly 3 months into lending even though I paid exactly what they asked!
  • Seriously now who would pay anyone without an invoice or a statement or some proof as to what you owe? I have been asking for a copy of what I owe for the last 4 months but have been told no! This person has obviously been spending on the credit card I was lent money on and cant calculate the interest. Last statement I say was correct in saying I owed £1047.23 on January 1 2013. Have been paying £120 on 8 January and every month after

Not someone who was happy to take the friend's money when they needed it, and then gets shirty when having to repay it, it seems.

I'm afraid that cases like yours are why people are advised not to lend to friends and family. The sort of people who ask for money like this all too often come over all self-righteous and indignant when it comes time to pay it back.

I agree with the others, by the way, pay them what they are asking. They helped you when you needed it, don't be so mean when it comes to paying back. Don't demand proof, don't be difficult, just pay them back.
  • Not a friend and proved their worth in being a control freak and a nasty person! At the end of the day I was stupid to borrow it and only asked advice about trying to find out how much I owed when I only have a balance from a statement on Jan 1 2013! The person obviously used this card and can't separate who owes what! I will only pay what I owe. I wouldn't pay any other bill without seeing what I owe and that's all I've asked for.
