93 post thread just a little lower down the page here...

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4690969

    Official T&Cs here...

http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/ (click "more information about the £100 switching offer")

Do neither of those answer your query?

Yesterday I called in to the Branch about this, They advised it was not for existing customers and pointed at a 4 foot poster behind the counter. After directing him to the Halifax website, he then advised me, the fist appointment was in 2 weeks time to complete the request in Branch.

I went home completed the online switching form, and the £100 was in my account this morning.

What do you think will happen if Halifax asks the old bank to close the account, but you then contact the old bank and tell them you want to keep it open?

Hopefully a series of "Gladiators" style challenges between the toughest member of branch staff from each bank. The winner gets to keep your business! :D

I reckon this could then lead to a certain amount of mayhem in the IT systems that could get confused over whether and what to redirect.

Someone will no doubt find out before long, and hopefully tell us about the experience.

As you will not complete the switch don't expect to get the £100 or if you already have got this expect them to take it back.

How will they know if the account has been closed?

I was talking about switches before 16 Sep.

Well I have filled in the form online and I will let them close the old account anyway. I will open a new account with the old bank later on.
  • anyone know if i try and switch a nationwide current account with one standing order on it and a small £12ish balance into an existing halifax reward current account whether it would qualify for the £100?

Well no-one here will "know", but my understanding (from reading the offer T&Cs on their website) is that so long as you switch all payments you have on the old account you'll be OK...and they don't specify a quantity.
