This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Clearly not that good as I could not even spell September :rotfl:
On a mad dash as usual so will try and call back later but just wanted to say if Molly is reading this - hugs and well wishes for today.
Love and hugs to HelenJelly and every positive wish possible for your DH's health.
Hester it's lovely to see you posting and please take it easy and don't over do it. I use a doubled up king sized duvet as a mattress topper and it worked for me.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs if anyone needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all!
It's a rather grey, windy looking day in Glasgow today. I'm watching the wind in the trees and persuading myself that going out in it will be exhilarating rather than cold and wet!
Didn't have a good weekend as some of my mental health problems kicked in and I spent a goodly part of it asleep. Actually, being asleep is nice but I'd far rather have done something productive with my time! Never mind - you can't change the past, can you?
So on to today ... It's going to be an expensive one as Willie Wonka has a UTI so I'll be phoning the vet for an appointment. WWonka's also got a nasty bite on his ear so the vet can have a wee look at that while we're there. My other jobs are:
* Visit seedlings.
* Get house ready for cleaner's visit tomorrow.
* Go to gym.
* Go to Mass (depends what time we're seeing the vet).
* Contact Community Garden to see if they'd like a novice volunteer.
Hope everyone has a good, OS kind of dayHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Morning all,
Nice day here again but there is a definite chill in the air, I love the changing of the seasons !
Hester I too use a duvet on top of the matress and under the sheet, makes a huge difference to comfort and is much warmer in winter, take it easy love x
Helen Jelly positive thoughts to you and OH xx
Off to my volunteering job today, which I love and am looking forward to, it does mean though that there will be nothing done on the decorating front, but I need a break tbh, will go back to it tomorrow.
My dd is back today :j I do miss her when she is gone, they went to Laxey yesterday which she said was beautiful and like stepping back in time !
Dinner tonight is a 'grill' upnice and easy after being on my feet all day !
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Chilly and bright here this morning, I slept better last night so it must have been cool overnight.
Thinking of you Molly, LW, hope you are ok.
Fish fed, I've had breakfast and am sat here now with a cuppa, hubby's pottering in the garden, he'll do his breakfast later. He's going into town later to buy new work wear, I'll stay here & be lazy, again.
I may strip the spare bed a put some washing on, but that will be all I do.
Thanks for the suggestion of putting a duvet under the bottom sheet, I'll try that first.
MMarie, I'm not overdoing it, I'm doing almost nothing, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
Wet and windy here but not that cold, enjoy the sunshine if you have it.
Molly - Thinking of you today.
HH - was it your OH who had to go into work yesterday? What was the outcome?.
School this morning, I have a sore throat, runny nose and AF has paid a visit so not the best start to the week!
Anyway packed lunches made for myself and DD, will soldier on! Take care. XX0 -
Hi Camelot
Yes it was, he walked to work, searched the buildings, no sign of anyone, locked up, walked home, he was gone about an hour and a half. He'd been home a couple of hours, knock at the door, a staff member stood there with a bottle of wine, very apologetic, had opened the school and was to go back on receipt of a phone call, went out and left phone at home! Arrived home to loads of phone messages including one saying that my hubby had gone up.
It was all down to a simple mistake and if I'd be driving it would have been a lot easier, problem was, as it was Sunday the buses are infrequent so hubby had a long walk, hey ho, at least it was nothing serious.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Bright blue sky with beautiful sunshine, but a definite nip in the air here this morning. Washing on the line.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Lunch yesterday was gammon steaks, egg, onion sauce, mash, carrots, peas and cauliflower, swiss roll for dessert for the menfolk. Tonight will be either pork chops, potatoes, veg and gravy or fish, chips and beans, I will have fish, jacket potato and veg if the menfolk have the fish and chips option.
DS1 starts college today - can't believe where the years have gone! DS2 starts back to school on Thursday - can't come soon enough - be nice to get back into some sort of routine and normality (whatever that is!?)
I'm back to work today - and no doubt it will another manic Monday (start of the month too) - but the upside being that it makes the day pass quicker - we're still in a situation where we have a lot of staff of sick and of course it's still holiday time.
We did get some more jobs accompolished yesterday - DH and boys tidied out corner of the garage so the new roof box they'd collected would go in there, so they sorted through what they took out and some items have been thrown away etc - all looks much tidier now. Got some more stuff put back into the loft. I did the small pile of ironing that needed doing - and until last night there wasn't enough to make up another load - I did then manage to make up a small load last night and put that on over night and that's now on the line. I did a quick clean of bother bathrooms and ran the hoover over the whole house - so whilst it's not ultra gleaming it's certainly better than it was. I will be hard pushed to get everything done this week as DH and I are going away on Friday so lose that day - but am really looking forward to the weekend, will see friends we haven't seen for a while and it's at a really nice venue - hope the weather stays good so we're able to spend some time outside as realistically we're not going to get that much more warm weather at this time of year. I noticed last night how much the nights are pulling in already - by 8.30pm its dark!
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all,
Today somebody else has to spend the day frustrated, uncomfortable and with an impending sense of doom - the first day of term always seemed set up to prevent you doing the important stuff. No longer my problem - but I'm missing the gossip and the wedding pictures etc!
Dinner is prepared and ready to cook, the ironing will be done to Heir Hunters and then I'm off out with my friend who has also retired from her work. Who knows where we will end up!
Hugs all round xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all!
LW hope your feeling better
Molly hope the hospital went well
Hester keep resting
Good luck to those starting back to school / work today!
Its been a bit of a trauma getting mine back into the scheme of things. What with fear of bullying, asd its just a bit of a nightmare.
But all is going well, ds1 is out the door, he's loading up with pe kits and all sorts.
DS2 is still in bed, so will go wake him in a bit.
Got a list a mile long, don't want to do it, but needs must.
Have a good day all0 -
