Only thing I think you should ahve done differently OP is actually have a look when you did it.
Guilt made you go back and check properly because if the car was so close you just had to touch it to get out of the space, there is no way you could have seen if any damage had been done initially.
As you rightly went back and saw, there wasn't but the point is you should have had a good luck at least. Sometines the way the cars line up can cause scratches, especailly if one of the cars is dirty etc.
Apart from that, no issues. Relax! What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Isn't that what 'bumpers' are for?0

I think it is law that you have to bump the car in front and behind you.
It's called 'Park by Feel'
Very popular technique in the USA too.
Beware of parking behind cars with towbars!0 -

Try the south of Spain, if you don't leave your car parked properly, someone will probably come along and ram your car until it is. I witnessed this first hand outside a small shop in Mojacar (might have been Turre).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I had an old American car years ago.
The bumpers were proper thick steel, and to change a wheel, the jack was one of those hi-lift types that hooked under the bumper and just lifted the car up by it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

still on the parking theme but almost the opposite of tight space parking. have a look on youtube for the "queens university parallel parking". people who are not natives of northern ireland may struggle with the accents but even so it's a very funny 30 minutes, yes 30 minutes.0

And in Palma de Mallorca the locals just dive into the nearest bar and immediately half a dozen huge guys (half drunk) will come out and physically push and shove and lift the car sideways to let the locals car into a space that is 2" longer than their car.
Try getting out if you are parked in front or behind them!0 -
I disagree. As a Motor Insurance Claims Advisor, if the car owner finds a scratch, hairline or whatever and reports this to the Police or a witness is apparent in the Car Park and reports as such then the driver will be held fully accountable under law for driving off and not leaving details. Sometimes scratches may not be apparent if the vehicle is dirty or is white and closer inspection is required.
The driver should of left their vehicle details on a piece of paper on the third parties windscreen or reported it to the Police to cover their own backside.0
