To lay a bet is basically to be the bookie yourself.
if you look at any match in Betfair you will see blue boxes and pink boxes.
The blue boxes are just normal bets like you'd bet normally (good sentance!)
The pink boxes are the lay bets. You are saying ok, I think Liverpool will win so I will pay money to protect that outcome.
I didn't really understand that bit either when i first bet but just followed the instructions - it becomes loads clearer once you've done your first. Just start looking for odds and check with someone, either here on the Loopholes newbie thread. The American football starts on tuesday so there should be some matches around on tuesday afternoon/evening.
Good luck!DFW Nerd #1310 -
Think Ill leave it for a while! Matched betting sounds hard and im not good a picking things like that up. Leave it to OH have left him the printed version!! LOL. Hello!
Sorry to crash the thread, but I'm going to sign up to YouGov and FreeFivers - I've heard people talk about referring people for these sites, so if anyone wants to refer me, drop me a pm. I'll go with the first pm for each one if that's okay?
I'd much rather help someone out on here than just sign up without a referral.
Edit - I've had a pm for both now, thanks x"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Well I have had a much more money spending than money making weekend - been to a wedding and it all seems to have added up!! Plus got a fine for having my bumper on a yellow line  am going to try and contest that though as do not want to spend £30!!
However my totals stand as
Mystery Shopping: £84
AQA : £54.60
Quidco : £63.74
RPoints: £2.82
Other: £41.56
Made an error matched betting earlier - was entirely my fault so don't want to put people off but didn't notice the match started at 20.00 CMT NOT GMT so didn't place the bet in time and lost money... boo hoo hoo!!! So have had to take that off the total which is very annoying and entirely my own fault!
hey ho, another lesson learnt I suppose!
So my totals stand at: £246.72 - I appear to be going backwards - very depressing!!!! However shall use that as a motivator to improve - must also do some E-bay listings so shall try and find time for that this week!
Hope you are all well and have a happy monday morningDFW Nerd #1310 -
Hi everyone.
I'm off the starting blocks at last, but seem to be a couple of laps behind you all.
Total so far, a magnificent £30.40 (£26.40 AQA and £4.00 Pinecone).
Didn't do as much AQA as I intended because got a bit side-tracked entering competitions. Oh well, maybe July will bring a spate of prizes - here's hoping.
Have a good week.

Grrr, my PC monitor blew up at the wkend, and then i discovered my car is un-MOT'd, so that's booked in for this week. On top of spiralling wedding costs this is not good timing.
('borrowing' a monitor from work, so no spend on that issue at the moment)."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -

Here's my first report of how I'm doing so far. I haven't been slacking on the raising £1000 front(honest, dezzi:rolleyes: ) just haven't managed to do a sig yet:o .
So far I have made( in 2 weeks)- Quidco: £135.75 (all validated but not paid yet. Mainly from changing to LLoydsTSB car insurance, a whopping £120 cashback:j )
- YouGov: £50 (cheque to be paid anytime now,but earned over about 8 months:eek: . Am I allowed to include it?)
- Pinecone: £4 from a survey
- GreenMetropolis: £4.20 from selling 2 books (profit after postage deducted)
- Premium Bond prize: £50 (though after cashing-in all my bonds to pay off debts this is the last pay-out I'll get)
- Matched Betting: £93. This isn't matched betting as such but Arbing and doesn't make use of free bets so progress is a bit slower!
- Cash tin: £7.35 in £2 and 5p coins all collected since the start of the challenge
Total raised: £344.30:T
Not done:- Car Boot sales: Have loads of stuff(tat) sorted but weather has scuppered doing one on both weekends of the challenge so far:mad: . I'm praying for the rain to stop and the flooded fields to dry up before Saturday!
- eBay/Amazon: Plenty to list (though it might not sell before the end of the challenge:rolleyes: , so must get on with it this week.)
Good Luck everyone. Your posts and successes have been an inspiration:beer:0
