    Is the port being blocked?

If you go into mail settings, check the smtp port, it is sometimes is 25 I think which some ISPs block

Server port is 465 on one a/c and 587 on another.. would that be a reason?

    Hi,

Can you confirm the following details please.

    Just to check.
I am sure its a yes but is the (anonymised) email address that forms part of the actual error message 'xxx@btinternet.com' your email address?
Would you know how to access your email on the web? If so, then can you send a test message?
Also, are you able to post what the outgoing and the incoming mail servers are set to on your iPad. I am not sure whether it would be a 'btinternet.com', a 'yahoo.com' or 'btyahoo.com' server? Anyway, post back what you are using and i'll do a search.
    Thanks.
