Can anyone help pls? I have been sending emails from my btinternet account on my IPAD since I got it last xmas but for some reason it won't do it anymore. It comes up with ''A copy has been placed in your outbox. The sender address xxx@btinternet.com was rejected by the server".
I receive emails OK. I called BT who reckon it's an Apple problem.
Anyone advise pls? Much appreciated!

I'm having the same problem! I have a Yahoo account and 2 Gmail accounts, and I can't send emails from any of them, either directly from the email app or any other app which allows direct emails.
if I need to send emails (the iPad is the only internet acess I have at the moment) then I need to go to the mobile email website. Bit of a PITA. I was getting a pop up stating 'unable to connect to ...' whatever the name of the server is for emails, but I don't get these now.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could help.0 -
I have no problems with my iPad email it seems to be working as usual - Gmail, 1and1 account, Plusnet, all doing ok. I never use my BT email as BT never seem to allow email to be sent from devices on the move, I read somewhere about them not allowing you to send on the move, only if you use the web based service.
Have you tried restarting your iPad with a complete reboot, ie pressing the home button and the top right switch together for about 10-15 seconds? That seems to solve a lot of connection issues.0 -

A long shot but I wonder if its something to do with BT switching off their dial up service? You will almost certainly be on a broadband connection and not dial up but I wonder if something at BT's end has had a knock on effect?
Were you originally a BT dial up customer?0 -
Just thinking about this further.
Who is your internet provider?
Also, If I asked you to check on your iPad what email server settings you have then would you know how to do that? (It might be something like mail.yahoo.com and smtp.yahoo.com or smtp.btinternet.com)
Thanks0 -
Must admit I wondered the same until I saw this:A long shot but I wonder if its something to do with BT switching off their dial up service?
I'm usually very happy to blame BT, but even I can't figure out a way to link failure of a GMail account on an iPad to BT switching off certain email accounts, even though 1 Sept was the date for that.I'm having the same problem! I have a Yahoo account and 2 Gmail accounts0 -
Hi Jivesinger,
I guess we need to establish if the error message is exactly the same for the two different people posting.
I agree that it would be strange that Betonys gmail account issues would be a problem with BT.
However, dbrookf who is the OP defintely sounds like they have some sort of smtp/sending/authentication/incorrect server setting error.0 -

Thanks for taking the time! My internet provider is BT, I was never a dial-up customer.
My settings are mail.btinternet.com.
As mentioned I haven't changed anything but just had the problems recently...0 -
Any help anyone please?0
