Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

  • Yay!! Thanks for starting the new thread ETO!! :T

I'm in for another week!! Trying to work out a reasonable budget - think I'll go for £10 this week as I can't think of anything that I need this week!! Might pop across the bridge at some point to see family so best factor that in, other than that, another low spending week for me!!

    So, £0 / £10

Let battle with the shops commence.....

    Good luck everyone!! xxx

  • Morning everyone. And welcome to the new thread. Can't believe it's September already.

Last week I came in at £24.99 / £25 thanks to a last minute spend on the birthday BBQ we went to yesterday.

New week and £40 budget, way over what I want to spend but seeing a friend for lunch on weds and another for coffee on thurs. Will try and stick to something cheap on weds and no pudding. And hopefully won't be tempted by lunch on thurs.

    Have a good week everyone.

  • After poor showing over the last 2 weeks, I'm going for £30 Monday to Saturday.

    Good luck all

  • I'm going to go for £35 this week. Got the dentist but can claim that back so not counting that. Going the cinema and out for tea Tuesday (free cinema tickets but promised bf I'll buy tea!)

  • Thanks for the new thread.

Sunday: £24.72 on some books, leggings and nail varnish.
  • Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great weekend!

Thanks ETO for starting a nice shiny new thread for us. Can't believe it's September already! Where is the time going? Have had such a busy week that it just seems to fly by and every week seems faster than the last!

I'd like to declare a £2.74 spend and try a £5.00 spend for next week. Am hoping to stick to it and come well under, so here's hoping for the best. Am going to try and have several NSDs this week. Wish me luck lol!

    Cheers

  • Thanks ETO for the new thread!

As I said in previous thread I will pledge £10 this week. Have been a bit naughty and I spent 60 on a new work jacket so got to be a frugal fox until payday (25 days to go!)

Thanks for the new thread ETO - how can it be September though??

Stayed green last week with £54.74 / £55 (don't think you included my in last week's list ETO - probably because I joined later in the week :) )

I've decided only to count non-budgeted spends here. I'm working away with work this week and know I'll need to pay for travel so I'm taking that out of my petrol budget and not going to count petrol, groceries or budgeted pressies

    I'm going to pledge £8
