THIS IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT= PLEASE READ. There may be a better place to put this, but I want to warn you all that Swagbucks search engine is a front for a series of highly malicious viruses. You need to remove it from your machines. I have spent all day trying to recover my laptop because it was slowly being eaten away by viruses swagbucks had unknowingly installed onto my machine.

They do not show up with a surface scan! They only show up when you do a deep scan of your machine. I feel highly naive now, doing a basic search will warn you of the problems and tell you how to fix them.

If like me, you naively went into this to earn extra money- then you have also been too trusting. Nothing is ever FREE. I am going to do further research into the legitimacy of swagbucks now my machine is restored. Please, please, please take some time to check your machine fully.

The Swagbucks search engine is built into the Swagbucks website, you do not need to download it to use it. If however you are talking about the Swagbucks Toolbar then I am not that surprised really...! But really you could pick problems up online from a wide variety of places. How do you know that these problems come from using Swagbucks and not clicking any number of links or downloads that are advertised on their special offer walls or any others?

    See this link-

All the files I had to remove from my computer that contained Trojan horses or PUP files were named with search conduit, the swagbucks search engine.

I've never picked up a virus before or my anti-virus has always caught it.

According to the link the swagbucks search is unethical at best, and likely to lead you to pick up viruses.

    Just warning people.

The link you quote says that the toolbar isnt malicious and doesn't install a virus.

It does say that installing the toolbar changes your search settings and home page but that's kind of the whole idea of installing the toolbar. Its not meant to produce unbiased results, its meant to tie you in with the Swagbucks site and people who install it should understand that. So the notion that its unethical is wrong.

So if you dont want the toolbar, dont install it. You can still use search without it.

But I have it installed on Internet Explorer along with my Nectar Points toolbar and I only use IE to do swagbugs and nectar points searches because the toolbar makes it much easier to search and you are more likely (I think) to get search wins.

I use Chrome for everything else including Swagbucks offers, and I've never had any problem with the toolbar.
