Many thanks for all your kind words about getting a dog - I haven't looked forward to a day so much since.... I can't remember!
Overpayment of £400 today...
£58,237.65 to go... better than I expected again
I realise that pet insurance / vet bills / dog food etc. will dig into my budget, but I agreed with some posts I read on here the other day about still having a life rather than denying yourself of things all the time. That said, next 6 years will be Sun voucher holidays / camping all the way!0 -
She looks gorgeous.
Life is definitely for living as well - it's easy to forget as we stay so focused

Hi - got Flake a month ago now.
She is absolutely lovely: good natured and not fussed at all by the dogs either side of my place.
Only issue is sensitive stomach - not found a food which helps yet, but think it's wise to avoid tinned food. I was told that Bakers Complete is not bad because it doesn't have preservatives... any advice from fellow dog owners very welcome. Thinking of taking her to the vet later today because it isn't pleasant for her or for me!
That 'Phd' food - I know its prescription only - anyone tried it on their dog successfully?
Anyway, I now have a large canvas print of her in my bedroom and she is the apple of my eye
Overpayments will not be as much now - more realistic target is MF by 53. £100 overpayment yesterday - down to about £57,750ish now.0 -
not sure about the bakers stuff....sent my dogs totally hyper!!
unfortunately lurchers/greyhounds are renowned for having sensitive stomach issues....my greyhound is still going through it now and I have had her for 7 years!!I found the best stuff for her was the greyhound food (beta greyhound) that I got from petsathome....but it proved difficult to get hold of for a while and she went off it (absolutely not food orientated at all) and unfortunately, its only available in 15kg sacks so I gave up on that. I have tried her on a raw food diet, she isn't keen anymore after several months....I have basically got to the point where I have tried pretty much every food on the market and she will turn her nose up at most of them and the resulting stomach issues are a trauma....
I have started to feed her a mixture of james wellbeloved lamb and rice kibble (no gluten or nasty additives), cooked chicken with rice, scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. She occasionally has a tin of butchers tripe but to be honest, most things she just doesn't eat for more than a couple of days without turning her nose up at it....
I assume that the rescue centre told you what Flake was eating there - personally, I would keep her on that for another couple of weeks as it may just be the move that has upset her stomach (they are notoriously highly strung and live on their nerves) give the beta greyhound a try (if she doesn't like it, I am sure the rescue centre will be grateful for the rest of the bag) or perhaps give wafcol gluten free a try (was very successful with this with my last rescue lurcher who suffered with colitis following being poisoned as a puppy :()
sorry its all a bit vague, it really is a case of trial and error with this type of dog in my experiencehowever, they are worth every moment of worry and every thrown out meal!!
Good luck and big kisses for Flake!!Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Hi - been a while since I posted on here... Have decided to build up savings for a while rather than overpay mortgage so much (but will continue to do that by £200 / month). Mortgage down to £56,750 now. Worth having a few grand in savings in case car packs up or boiler goes!0
