Has anyone managed to have their credit card company pay if the original store had shut down?

Not sure it's worth the effort.

    What effort?
Have you spoken to you CC co yet?

If you can't be bothered, then that's ok too, but the legislation is there to be used, isn't it?

I had a dvd recorder/player repaired out of warranty for free.
I did some research and apparently it was a common fault.

I also had a £600 lap top out of warranty repaired for free although I did have to argue the point on that one, they did it in the end.

    Long text snipped

I'm well aware of the information you gave. However, all you're doing is backing up my point: the majority of failures are not down to misuse, they are inherent in the product.

Dictionary definition of inherent: "existing in someone or something as a permanent and inseparable element, quality, or attribute".

The very fact it fails eventually is part of the inherent nature of a product - which was my point.
