Ok thanks, 66 pages of small print but I see what you say, what is FOS and I guess 8 weeks is an official amount of times within guidelines.

They are more easily readable here: ;)

    Thanks for that.

I sent letter recorded signed for delivery yesterday but received call and texts!! Cheek of it, I've ignored all untill I receive a letter.
I presume I don't have to answer or reply to call or texts??

Going thru very old paper work I had a loan and an overdraft from Barclays about 8-9 years ago, could they be chasing that??

    Thanks

Quite possible, but who knows. Might be something else, or even not your debt at all. That is why you make them disclose what they are chasing before you do anything else.

And no, you do not have to reply to calls etc.

Thanks for that, they just called again and sent another text, it's almost harassment!!
The letter would of been received today so by tomorrow they would probably get around to replying mayb.

    Thanks for info :-)
  • Yep, ignore until they write with some proof.

    Good morning,
Well another letter arrived today headed
NOTICE OF PROCEEDINGS, the first line reads " despite your acknowledgement of liability for the account shown above the repayment agreement remains in arrears.
You have failed to respond to the Default Notice that was sent to you so therefore we give you notice that legal proceedings to recover this debt together with solicitor fees and costs may be instigated!! They now require payment in full!
( may I add that the first a letter telling me I owed money and 2nd letter Default Notice both dated 27/08/13 arrived 3 days after on 30/08/13 then this letter Proceedings dated 2nd sept arrived today 05/09/13, so in the space of a weekend I been told about a Debt, been given a Default on the Debt and now legal proceedings on the Debt, best thing of all is I sent the letter saying I DO NOT acknowledge this debt although they say Desipte your acknowledgement of liability, this is ridiculous!!
Do I still wait for them to reply?
Do I report them to OFT?

Many thanks for those helping me with the issue

Follow up with http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=57703407&postcount=3 then refer to the FOS & report to OFT

If it was me I might be tempted to email that to them now, and then send by post as a backup in a few days if no response.

  • It's a standard template full of mays and mights.

I doubt a DCA owns a template that begins with 'while you do not acknowledge the debt'
