Suggestions Please For Non-Android SIM-Free Mobile?
My OH has finally decided that she wants a new phone-currently using an old Nokia 6300 on PAYG.
She knows more what she doesn't want than what she does:
Doesn't want a touch screen, doesn't want Android/Windows/Mac iOS, doesn't want apps. Doesn't want a Blackberry. Doesn't want a 'large' phone.
She wants to phone, text and (crucially) be able to check and send emails. Would quite like a Nokia, as she likes the old menu structure etc...
I'm looking at a Nokia Asha 201: (full k/b and reasonable screen for emailing). Downside, no 3G or wi-fi.
Or a Nokia C2-01: Has 3G. Downside, small screen, not a full keyboard. No wi-fi.
3G is not a deal-breaker (I'm assuming that she'll still be able to access her email without it, if slowly), but as a low user she's quite interested in the new Three 321 PAYG tariff, and I believe all 3 connections require a 3G handset?
Can anyone suggest any other phones I should put on the shortlist please?
Budget is up to about £100. Thanks.

I picked up a Nokia C2-01 as a backup (wish i'd waited a few more days and then i would have simply bought another Nexus 4 as a backup).
Seems fine for a basic phone although it don't believe it supports HD Voice (despite what the Wikipedia page says).
If your wife is going to go with Three anyway it would be cheaper just to buy it through them (locked) on PAYG. That's what i did. £29.99 for the handset plus obligatory £10 PAYG SIM. You can get it SIM-free on Amazon for around £55.
If i were looking at buying a feature phone now i would probably wait and see what i price i might get the new Nokia 515 for.0 -
Thanks. No votes in favour of the Asha 201 then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Can't quite understand your logic of No Android/Windows/Mac iOS/ Blackberry...
If you don't want App, just don't install app! Why do you want to restrict yourself? Since your wife want to check email, it would be easier to get one of those as they are easy to set up.0 -
I don't understand it either. It sounds like a Nokia 520 would be ideal. Only have the tiles on the main screen for what she uses, it's a Nokia, it's a nice phone and it's excellent for email.Debt on 1st August 2013 - £9842.03

It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0
