The bone fragments help keep teeth clean too, unfortunately powder form wouldn't do that....
Have you tried giving him some dried dog food as part of his overall diet?

If it doesn't set off his allergies, that should help his teeth.

He's always been on dried dog food up till now, normal brands at first then as the years passed he went on a prescription diet kibble.

With hindsight, it's been feeding him this way that has caused his problems but I didn't know enough about it and neither did the vet tbh. It was only a couple of months ago that the vet reckoned all his problems lead back to food allergies and that's when it was raised.

It's only since switching him to raw meat recently that he is thriving and healthy. 3 of his main issues have disappeared and another has diminished and will hopefully go in time too.

I'd just like to be able to make my own for cost reasons really. The raw food he is on is great, good quality and the mutt loves it, it's just a bit expensive over the month.

Actually I'd forgotten about import charges tbh.

Loads of people feed their dog raw meat. Mine has developed allergies after years on commercial pet food and is only thriving now he's been taken off that and put on fresh foods. He just doesn't like bones which is why they need to be ground.

Health freak nut........how very dare you. :p:rotfl:
I think that you guessed that I was jesting with you, at least I hope so ;)

I can understand the situation, all the crap that food manufacturers put into food these days, nothing is healthy to eat and I doubt it's much better for animal foods.

It could be that you dog has developed an increased permeability of his gut which are causing the sensitivities to food. However natural foods free of additives are always better. I have a similar problem myself.

Yes I expect this is probably going to end up being a non-starter. I needed to explore the option though.

Other people get excited about KitchenAids........I just wanted an American meat grinder. :D

It might be worth looking for a a Euro version of the American product because some American companies make Euro versions of their products and one of those would work fine in the UK.

Son is in Canada & USA with work at the moment, he may be able to sort something out. If not, I'll need to give up on the idea as it would clearly be too costly to get delivered, and that's before I even add on converter costs too.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. :)

    Thanks all.

Your Son could provide the perfect method of bringing one into the country without any VAT and import charges....oh yes they will charge you VAT as well if you import one. Just try and find a Euro version if you can.
