Phones4u cockup? Wrong sim!

Hi all.
I've bought a clearance phone from phones4u. It was a Motorola F1 on an orange 300 minutes contravt and I think 400 texts.
Today was the first time I tried to register so that I could start transfering my Three number (I've got around 10 days left ). I rang up to start the the process tonight. I've noticed that the number on the bill is different to the number on the sim card.
So on the phone box MOT L6 SIL REF are :
IMEI: **********56473
SIM: 8944**********73320.
The sim card has:
SIM: 8944**********73320
Mobile number: 078*****212
The phones IMEI is **********56473
The mobile number on the bill sent by orange is 079*****940
orange gave me the sim no 8944**********74789.
When I first phoned orange and told them about the different numbers i was told to phone phones4u.
I phoned phones4u, they said that t would be difficult to find the correct sim as it would probably be in a warehouse somewhere? He told me to phone orange and ask for a sim transfer (I think, maybe slightly different).
I phoned orange again explaining this. She said OK, but first she'd put me through to somebody else to register the sim and then to go back to her to transfer the number over. I was transferred to the registration department to register. I was put on hold a couple of times before being cut off.
I phoned back I think on two occasions, the last I was put on hold a couple of times, I think she was speaking to someone else. She came back on saying they couldn't do anything about it on their system, and that I would have to go back to phones4u to get the correct sim card. She then gave me the sim card number corresponding to the phone number that orange have me setup on ?
So, I've had enough of hanging about on the phone for today. I thought I'd come on here and moan, maybe learn how to deal based on other peoples experience, how to milk the situation to my advantage?
What do you think?
What would you do?
Thanks

Hi Vertical
One thing I might get concerned about. The different numbers might give a problem in the future for cashback claims as the invoice states a different number to the one on the bill from Orange.
If I were you, I would cancell the deal using the cooling off period and send the phone back. I wouldn't rely on them to find the correct sim card which they might not find and lose my cooling off period waiting and get nothing.
ThunderbirdBe nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -
phones4u dont have many cashback deals ...
mate my advice is go in and have a word with a admistrator ....thats the best way of getting it sorted ...if you call the sales consultant he may not help that much and may just be a waste of time ....
I am a bit confused with what your saying anyhow ...u said f3 and then you said l6 ....as far as i know the clearence handsets on contract doesnt include either of those phones .....
however if you mean its a pay as u go ..i can understand they didnt connect you properly .....
I do not see how stupid someone has to be to give you wrong phone and sim ...he has to scan it into the computer ....
I am a bit confused to be honest ...please clarify ...what phone is it ....contract or not? and what is the problem0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Its a Motorola L6 on a 12 month contract on Orange, 300 minutes and 400 texts.
It was on the clearance section but it's no longer there.
They do seem to have given me a corresponding phone and sim but they have given a different sim information to Orange.
