Predictive text on Alcatel mobiles

Does anyone know how to get predictive T9 text as the default on an Alcatel phone (I have the OT-C635)? When using the SMS facility it seems to default to the old style multitap system and I much prefer predictive text - the manual doesn't help and the website has no email contact address. Any help gratefully appreciated!

Ah it does have T9. Usually this is switched on and off using * or # keys on most phones. Try holding them.

Thank you both - I'll try the customer assistance number tomorrow. I just didn't come up with that when I was searching the web earlier. Tried holding the * and # keys, sadly doesn't work.

Hmmm...called Alcatel customer services and apparently there is no way to lock on to predictive text  , it defaults automatically to multitap and you have to change it each time, which involves 2 key presses and as it seems quite sensitive it's easy to trip it into numerical mode instead of predictive.

That will send me batty having to do that each time I want to send a text so the phone is being sent back, sadly. It's so simple with Nokia, might stick with them in future. Anyway, thanks again for your help.
