Child support from Step parents

Options
Is it true that if I were to live with or marry someone with a young child that they financially support via the CSA, then my wages will be taken into consideration when payment calculations are made?

i.e Am I expected to pay for a partners child that isn't mine?

Unless adoption comes into it, then no.

  • No, it's the non-resident parent's wages only.

FYI, they will take into account, and make an allowance for any child that he is financially responsible for (ie if you have children from previous partners or children together)
  • No your wages wont be taken into account - but tax credits will be if the partner is the "higher" earner.

You are not expected to pay.

However,if the partner was on the old CSA system, the pwc could get a departure that says/shows you can pay a percentage of the housing costs for you and your partner which then frees up more of the partners money for maintenance.

So,even then you would not be paying and it only applies on the oldest CSA system.
