Obvious structural problems.
Viewed one today with an extension on the side. On the external wall, down the seam where old bricks were interweaved with new, there was a crack all the way down. Not just in the mortar - bricks had cracked in half! Lots of cracks inside too, around the edges of the extension, and around the lintel in the ceiling of the room that's extended. :eek:0 -
Parking problems. Off-road parking is a must for me.
Dodgy neighbours obviously.
Too much need doing. I am happy to do a bit of DIY, but I'm not in perfect health so don't want any major jobs.I also wouldn't want to be on a main road again (especially at ground level) because of my experience of traffic noise and cheeky !!!!!!s peeking into and tapping on my windows.
I actually quite like main roads as long as the parking is okay. It's mainly 'cause I am allergic to kids and parents don't tend to let kids out on main roads. I have lived in two cul de sacs where 6-10 kids would play in the street for most of the year. I would rather put up with noisy traffic and drunks!0 -
Subsidence
Flood risk area
Steep hill (makes traffic access more tricky in all weathers)
Then neighbours, car parking, passable public transport & personal quirks like a non-overlooked washing line.0 -
First of all I google map the area and any signs of the lesser
Spotted trampoline which in most chavy areas are prevalent I give it a miss as this usually shows up parking issues etc.
Oil slicks on the neighbouring driveways usually indicate the budding mechanics doing up vehicles for resale or own private use , oil is a pain to remove from tarmac !Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -

Top class snobbery!
Well done :money:Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Smell - I can forgive most things, decor and kitchen, even parking if changeable, but not smell.
Smoke, pets, curry smells all make me feel very negativeTomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -
I did say living on main road. I did live on a main road in a village as a kid. Though it was the bottom end of it.
What I mean is living on a major A Road or one that goes to a city centre.0 -
The other side of that is view a property ANYWHERE near a railway station in the day and night , its often worse in the daytime
Not in the village where we live. The council have very cleverly put yellow lines on all the streets within walking distance of the station and you can park there any time you like except Mon-Fri 11am to noon."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Sloping ceilings
Signs that neighbouring houses are on the slide; broken gutters etc.
Matresses or old tyres in the garden
Yoofs cars with noisy exhaust/sound system blaring out
Basketball hoops on houses
Lads kicking football in the street
Blocks of lockup garages
Wheelie bins left in the front garden
Spar, bookies, kebab shop etc. in the nearest arcade
No lecky to garage
Local pub has Sky Sports on all the time
Any reports of gypsies in the local papers0
