new email address required

I need to set up a new email address - does anyone have any reccommendations for the best providor? Don't want to use my ISP and I've a fuzzy memory of yahoo being in the news a while back for having email accounts hacked, plus I've read various things about google and their "big brother is watching you " characteristics. Am clueless about this sort of thing so any advice welcome.

  • why not get a domain? A me.uk domain cost about 7 quid for 2 years and you can redirect email to it to any email supplier you like, and can change to different suppliers as and when their security is found lacking.
