Broadband and calls but no line rental

Hi,
I've just to come to the end of an 18 month contract with BT for 10GB B'Band and Unlimited UK Anytime Calls for £9.90 a month - phoned BT to see if they could continue this deal but best they could offer is £14 a month, but calls being w/e only.
I've looked at switching but everyone requires Line Rental - I'm sure this wasnt when I previously switched to Sky. I've paid for my BT line Rental in advance, paid until March-14 - so clearly unlikely to make a saving if I in effect have to write off 7 mths of line rental?
Am I missing the obvious, does every provider now require you to take their line rental? I can see a few Mobile related options but this isn't really what I'm after.
Thanks

If you're taking ADSL broadband or a fibre product that isn't Virginmedia then you'll be required to pay for line rental.0

Some suppliers will still give you b/band and calls without line rental at a slight premium eg Plusnet0
