Plusnet - Moving House - Conned?

This is the closest board I could find to this.
Moving in with my girlfriend and she has plusnet at her old place where she still lives, pays rent for and pays internet bills for...
When ringing to change address apparently Talk Talk has already taken over the line for the new tennants despite not living there yet (Mid-September)
Plusnet say she must either pay off her contract in full (6 months remaining) or take out a new 12 month contract at the new place...
Noone was given permission to take over that line whilst she lives there..
What can she do?!?
Help please
dan

How long was she with Plusnet for? If she was still within a special offer period, then she's liable to pay the rest of the contract.

4. Notice Periods and Scheduling of Cancellations- We require notice in order to close any account. The notice period is 30 days for Residential accounts with Plusnet Essentials or Unlimited products (sold from November 2012), or 10 days notice if you're on any other product. The notice period is 30 days for Business accounts. When a cancellation (as opposed to a MAC Key) is requested, we will schedule this to take place at the end of the notice period. Due to limitations of our supplier's systems, if this date falls on a weekend, a broadband line cancellation will be scheduled for the next working day.
- The notice period starts from the time we receive the cancellation request. If the cancellation request is withdrawn for any reason during the notice period, a new request needs to be made and a new notice period will commence.
- It is possible to specify a cancellation date after the notice period. In this case, a one-off payment will be taken at the time the account is scheduled for cancellation. This payment will include all subscription charges up until the end of the requested period and no further subscription charges will be made.
- If requested, we can close an account sooner than the notice period. In this event any payments due up until the end of the notice period will be required as a final one-off payment before the account closure can be scheduled.
- Because we need to order the broadband line cancellations with our own suppliers we always require at least 5 working days notice.
- All customers under contract will, when their initial period is up, be automatically moved to a rolling one month contract.
- Should the customer wish to cancel at the end of the initial term, they will need to give notice 10 or 30 days prior to the annual contract end date.
- Should the customer wish to cancel before the initial term has expired, payment for the remaining months of the contract will be requested as a final payment.

I'd have a chat with Talk Talk or the new tenants. They should have been told that the service shouldn't been activated until the move-in date. I agree that you shouldn't be liable for any payments because of this.Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed

Surely id speak to the new tenants sue to talk talk having activated the line, and although they will be the account holder for the address, they are not at the moment. Id speak with the new tenants, and get them to speak with talk talk.0

reading this as you havent been clear i am presuming the new house/place is a shared house and if this is the case i am also presuming the existing telephone line the new people in there have got talktalk broadband which is fair enough.
i wouldn't go anywhere where i could have a phone line which then provides the broadband etc. if they are remaining they still goto pay for line and their contract but if they are off to new places the big pile of poo with talktalk will want paying for their contract at that address as one thought and they won't give up either.
now back to your issue if she wants broadband separate from theirs you have 2 ways to go either install another line with plusnet/bt you normally get charged for this regardless another option is to get virgin stuffed in, if you are in a cabled area.
but you need to give more info on the full situation on the new place and people and what there upto and if she has letted out what clauses she had in place in the contract she gave out are there any or is she just renting a room?0
