Virgin Media- Broadband unreliable

I have had a package with Virgin Media (Broadband, Telephone and Television) for between 2 years and 3 years. Overall I have been very pleased. However over the past 4 months I have been encountering regular shutdowns of my internet connection. When I phone I am told there are known problems in my area. When I lodged a formal complaint a member of staff said this was often due to Britsh Gas doing repair work and drilling through the Virgin Cable. It is funny I had virtually no problems for 18 months and then this happens. Is any one else experiecing the same issues. When the internet is working it is excellent, but it is becoming increasing unreliable. I am locked into a contract for a further 12:mad: months plus so I am stuck.

I recently had multiple problems (now appear to have been solved). Got credited 2 months fee, £10 for phone calls, and got discount on my bills moving forward.

It was also confirmed by retentions that if I had wanted to exit contract early they would have allowed me without charge due to the issues.
