Faulty shoe - independent assessment required

Hi there
I purchased a pair of leather ballet pump shoes from high end retailer, there is a slight tear on the leather which I noticed after one wear. I contacted retailer and told them I had worn them once ( they are in pristine condition) long story we are in dispute as to who is at fault me or the shoe (there are absolutely no other marks on the shoe).
I was advised by CAB that I need to get independent assessment of shoe to determine the nature of fault - can anyone put in the right direction of a leather specialist who can help resolve my issue.
Thank you
Paula

How rude ! Seemed a valid question to me..............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Where is the tear - along a seam that has not been correctly stitched? If not, I'm wondering how a specialist will be able to determine that it is an inherent fault?0

Will the retailer not send them off to the supplier for examination?
Although they may not be keen on doing this if they have a nil returns policy with the supplier meaning they can't claim the credit back for them. Have they even offered to send them to an area manager/operations manager for a second opinion?
Can I ask what brand the shoes are?0 -
Can you post a picture as I may be able to advise.
Cheers

If you're within the first six months after purchase, the onus is on THEM to prove the item is NOT inherently faulty, rather than for you to prove that it is...0

Thank you for your responses, I have had issues with my password.
The pumps are woven leather and the tear which is ever so slight is under the toe, despite them saying so there are absolutely no other scuff marks on the shoe.
I apparently need an experts advise on the shoe and found a company online who were very helpful, however they quoted me £200-400 excluding VAT for this service which unfortunately I am unable to afford. I am not sure if i am able to name the retailer but will gladly if I can as their customer service is despicable. I am waiting to hear from trading standards to see if their is another avenue I can go through.
No type of resolution was offered, their opinion is that as I have worn the shoes they are unable to determine the fault - as far as I am aware no tests on their side have been carried out, my correspondence has been with the director of retail.
Judyb I have sent you a pm.
I wait in hope for sensible solution to this.0 -
Under the Sales of Good Act if you have owned them less than 6 months it is upto them to prove that the fault was down to misuse or wear and tear. So surprisingly CAB were wrong (unless you bought them over 6 months ago,)

I bought the shoes on 2nd December, I contacted the retailer on 4th June....2 days outside of the 6 month period which I was told by CAB is now down to me to prove the fault. I wasn't aware of my rights then but I also didn't envisage this battle with the retailer given that they are a high end boutique, unfortunately I did expect the customer service to be in line with the price I paid for the shoes.0

Ah, well I would personally take them to an independants shoe store and ask them for a report.
How much are we looking at price wise for the shoes?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
