I make a visit a couple of times a year to one of the Parkers garden centre.

Like most places they dispose of masses of over stocked bulbs in mid december. Unlike most places they know how to store them, so as long as they are in the ground by Xmas they have all flowered well.

OP, on the subject of seed, I use an ebay seller by the name of "justseed", or very close to that.

They are very cheep, defra registered, and I thing it's even free post if you order 10 or more packets. I can recommend them

    There we go, found it:

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Or if not fan of E-bay, Wilkinson's are clearing out at half price, and no doubt many garden centeres will be doing same any time soon

  • And on the subject of Parkers, I don't know if there are any restrictions on who can use it, but if you are after seriously large numbers of bulbs, they have a wholesale site http://www.dutchbulbs.co.uk/ which looks cheaper provided you are ordering in bulk.

I didn't realise they sold whole sale too, this is great, has anyone ordered plants from them before as I wondered how big/ mature they were or whether they were pretty much the size of plugs as they're so cheap. And the fruit trees are only £7 Ish each. How big could they be? I'd be worried f getting a sapling in the post!! Any opinions would be great thanks:)

Yep, 'remaindered' daffs are a false economy IMHO. Feeble flowers, if any, in 1st year. Life's too short when you're talking a tenner.

I agree to a certain extent, if you buy from B&Q and wilkos etc they have been kept in the wrong conditions, which is why I said Parkers are fine as they are pros and know how to store them.

Genuinely, I have bought at least 6 sacks from them, planted by xmas and they flower a couple of weeks late the 1st year and normally thereafter, you'll be surprised.

Parkers is a 100 mile round trip for me, but worth it a couple of times per year.

Someone mentioned the size of the plants. You are right, I'd say they are a year less in size, or 1/2 what you would expect.
They supply what an old fashioned nursery would have done, not like flashy High Brow garden centres do.

They used to hold a selection of the catalogue stock in the centre I visit, they gave an extra 20% of the cat price:money:, unfortunately I don't think they do any more.

I also have to say, the size and quality of plants available from cat stock, does not match the fantastic range and variety on offer in their centres.
