    Thanks...

As stated I've got a flat and get the keys next week so all good.

The £6000 turned to much less rather quickly unfortunately, for a variety of reasons:

The letting agents wanted six months rent up front (no surprise)
I had none of my own furniture left
I had to get an el-cheapo but reliable car - without it I won't be able to find work as on-site IT. Amazing what you can get at auction for a grand these days. Merc C320 with FDSH FTW :D

But it's all sorted now - as stated, just a mater of sticking it out for another week. Just needed to vent.

    Oh, I'm a he :o

I would not like to live under the conditions you are having to but you sound like a determined person to make a better life for yourself.

I hope you have a great life in your new home and can move on from all the negative things that you have had to suffer in the past.

Take care and look after yourself.

Look up the Internet to get a cheap holiday caravan between now and when you get the flat. Should be able to negotiate a bargain as it's the end of the season.

Thanks for the support everyone, I really appreciate it.

To be honest I went into this with eyes wide open, I knew exactly what she's like and it comes of no surprise, I suppose what I'm seeking is some kind of consensus as to whether I'm just a !!!!! who drives everyone mental and the relationship issues with my ex and my mum are down to me - so that I can drive myself to the brink of insanity changing who I am - or whether actually I'm not a complete jerk and I should just avoid those who treat me as if I am one...

But then again no one on these forums knows me anywhere near well enough to make a judgement like that :p

    There's your answer.

And well done on getting out and away from that complete !!!!!!.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I think your mother is the nutter here from what you are saying.
Just don't rise to it, bite your tongue and ignore it. It is just 1 week.
  • Parents tend to get very set in their ways after living alone for a number of years, maybe it;s the isolation, or possibly loneliness. It sounds like you staying there has thrown her routine out of the window, and she's getting resentful that you're there. If its a strained relationship, its even more difficult.

Do you have any friends who could put you up for a day or two so that you can stay out of her way?

I don't think it's you driving people crazy, your mum does sound a handful!

Hang in there, you'll be getting your own place soon.

I don't think it is you, I think your mother has mental health problems (like my mother).

On a practical level get a urinal bottle (you're lucky your are male, so much easier) and get a bed pan for emergencies.

Mothers can be hugely powerful. You have to acknowledge that their actions are unreasonable and break the cycle of abuse. My mother behaved like this and caused me no end of suffering until someone told me two things that changed my life.

    1. You are only like your mother because it is the only example you have seen (ie it is not in your genes).
    2. It is ok not to like your mother.

After hearing these comments (about 20 years ago) I eventually had a relationship with her on my terms. She no longer tries to bully and intimidate me, if she makes spiteful comments I challenge them.

    Break the cycle!
Have you done everything right in life. If not will you learn and have you changed?
