Nissan Juke Vs Hyundai iX20
Hello,
I currently potter about in the Hyundai i10, 2 years old. 12 months car tax is just £20!!! Nice and economical.
The car is all mine, so I'd like to get Part Exchange value for it, rather than sell it privately.
The two cars I really like are the Juke and the iX20 - does anyone have any personal experience of either of these? Anything I might find interesting? What abut the iX35, which is bigger again but I don't think I NEED that much car, just being greedy because I think it's gorgeous!!!
I do daily school and shop runs, regularly shoe-horn dogs into the boot. Two or three times a week I drive an hour and back along A30/M5 between my home and my warehouse. Needs to be comfortable and sprightly to do this.
All comments welcome

No experience of either car but not sure what you mean by I would like to get PX value rather than sell privately.
The PX value is less than you might get for a private sale0 -
Go and read all the views you can. The What Car reader reviews are normally quite revealing (I tend to ignore the rants) especially about things the professional reviews don't cover.
Go for a test drive of each and ask what you would get as PX (I imagine that the cost to change will be cheaper at a Hyundai Dealership with your trade in).

If you can try and get a 24hr test drive or even better a full weekend test drive so you can evaluate which one you like in peace, I cannot stand the 20 minute test drives with the salesman sat there.
Although I did laugh when my wife test drove a 350Z, the salesman was drip white when he got out.Well he did tell her to give it some beans.

+1
My wife was in two minds about a z4 3.0 even once she'd test driven it, so they lent her one for the weekend. When i wasnt going sideways in it she got the time to get a good feel for the car, and placed an order on the monday morning.0 -

Well....... Sounds to me you need something with a good sized boot, certainly not a big tall crossover (Juke). Ever seen what damage dogs can do to a car when they're scrambbling away trying to get into a boot that's a good height above ground?
Sounds to me like you need a small estate style of car, like a Ford Focus Estate, something without a huge boot lip.....
IMO neither of the cars you mention have any real boot space at all.
It really depends on whether your being practical, or just keeping up with the school run mum craze for impractical 4x4s and crossovers.
Also, your probably better off with petrol, because most of your journeys are short runs and modern diesels hate that type of driving.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hello,
The two cars I really like are the Juke and the iX20 - does anyone have any personal experience of either of these?
Not personally but my brother in law was recently considering the same two cars & went for the IX20. The Juke seems to be more style over substance & is not particularly practical.
The IX20 does have a boot floor which can be raised or lowered, & in the raised position you have storage area underneath and a level boot lip - ideal for dogs getting in & out
As has been mentioned the best way is for an extended test drive if you can get one.0 -

Or take the dogs down to the dealership and start trying out the boots
Ok, so you'd get kicked out, but it'd be funny as hell :rotfl:“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

For practicality the IX20 seems the better option. Also have a look at the Kia Venga as they are essentially the same car, but the Kia comes with a 7 year warranty vs Hyundai's 5.
If I were you I would take them for as long test drive as possible as this is what you will have to live with for years to come but I would think the Hyundai would be more practical than the Juke if that's what your after.0 -
Here's a curveball for you... Fiat 500L
We were looking to replace my wife's uneconomical CRV with something that did more than 25mpg and cost less than £260 in VED.
We took our springer spaniel to the showrooms. Cars we looked at included:
Hyundai iX35 (overpriced)
Kia Sportage (7 year warranty has a lot of exclusions)
Mazda CX-5 (dubious build quality)
Nissan Juke (too small inside)
Nissan Quashquaique (overpriced)
Skoda Yeti (hard to get hold of)
Subaru XV (too agricultural and not cheap to run)
VW Tiguan (overpriced)
And then two more "normal" sized cars:
Alfa Mito (wife didn't want the same brand of car as me, but we both liked it)
Fiat 500L (dog loved it, wife thought it was quirky but really liked it)
So, I'd suggest looking at the Fiat 500L or Skoda Yeti.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
It's a strange world.... lol, I guess my priorities are different.
When I buy a car I know what I want, buying a new car would never be a case of "I want a new car, but I don't know which one". I still drive my trusty 04 Vectra because there's nothing out there that I want. Even buying 2nd hand, I figure out what I want and I look for it, when I go look at a car I often know more about it than the guy selling it. I certainly never float around dealerships looking at countless different models.
I think when you don't know what you want, but just want something new, this is when your most likely to get ripped off and lumbered with an unsuitable car.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
