I signed up with TPS 3 months back but still keep getting calls from Talk Talk, Kitchens Direct and Onetel. The thing is even after telling them a clear NO they keep calling after a week or so. Dont know how to get rid of these calls.

  • Do you guys have caller ID? If so, are they calling from International numbers?

I was inundated with crappy cold-calls and signed up to the TPS, unfortunately it only affected about half since so many are calling from abroad and apparently the TPS can't do anything about that. It got so bad that I called BT and had a go at some poor lass working the call centre there - they can't do anything either :\
  • I guess you could block all numbers from abroad and only allow certain ones to call you e.g. relatives etc (ask BT)??
  • Nope - Tried that, BT can't block international numbers. I've no idea why - they can identify them as international for caller ID so why can't they block it? Bloody annoying really :\

Is there a way of blocking calls where the number is with-held? A lot of these spam calls leave no number, so that might stop them. When I was with NTL it was just a case of punching a code into the handset, but I don't know how to do it on a BT line.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

You can set this up with BT. Just phone up Customer Services and they will do it free of charge. (Unless it's changed very recently.)

The only problem is that most genuine companies are withold numbers as well (because of the switchboard sytstem.)

I had a friend who didn't get to know that she'd got a new job for about a week because the company couldn't get through to her phone as she'd barred witheld numbers! :D

I have choose to refuse on my phone but the problem is you can only block up to 10 numbers  , but its great for stopping credit card company's chasing for payments when they insist they havent received the 3 letters sent out to request they dont phone and write instead :D
