Plusnet FTTC but with existing line rental

I am current with VM on a 120Mb broadband only.
I am looking into alternatives now that FTTC is available.
I have a BT socket but it is not used; there is no line rental on it. (it used to, so I know it works).
The Plusnet website pricing options include 14.50 line rental per month.
Can I prepay a year's line rental with a cheap provider at around 10/month equiv. , and then sign up with Plusnet, or must I take the line rental from Plusnet?

You can take Plusnet Line Rental Saver:
Pay for 12 months line rental in advance and save money. Line Rental Saver costs £131.88 for 12 months line rental (monthly equivalent £10.99).
You'll also be charged round £49 for the reconnection of your BT-based line.No free lunch, and no free laptop

...also be aware that Plusnet are increasing prices for internet only customers -so look VERY carefully on the website before signing up if you do go with another phone supplier.0

Does the Line Rental Saver option on Plusnet come with any inclusive calls?0

LRS with PN now comes with w/end calls but NOT Evening calls (unless you already had them and are just renewing)0

You get no inclusive calls with line rental saver, Anytime call package is an extra £5 i believe.Annual Line Rental does not include a call plan as standard. With Plusnet Line Only you'll get free calls to our Support Team and other customers on Plusnet phone.
If you need inclusive calls to other numbers, you'll need to choose one of the Plusnet Anytime plans below or choose Monthly Line Rental.0 -
The last 2 posts are an example of the confusion regarding LRS deals. It's becoming a bit of a minefield out there.0
