Hiya,
Can anyone tell me where I can find ex-mobility cars for sale? It's time for a new car, and we want one with low milage and more functional rather than posh (that time of life) any ideas?
Thx, M

Where are you?
Check your local car auctions. SMAG do regular mobility sales, theres probably more throught the country.0 -
I bought one a few years ago from my local Vauxhall dealer he did me a good deal too..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Google mobility car auction and theres loads will come up.
They disperse them over the country to quite a few auction houses.
Dont assume they will be mint though.
You would be just as well checking for ex lease auctions or ex finance company auctions.
And watch out for auction fees - some of the big houses now charge stupid money for one off private purchases so check up front.0 -
Auctions or most dealers.
There are thousands of them. I read something a little while back saying that 90 - 100,000 people may lose their cars in a system update that year.
Even if thats half of the number registered its still a lot of cars every year.
Just found some figures, 600,000 customers on the scheme.
Beware though as some of them are treated very badly indeed. There will be repairs to scratches and scrapes all over the thing.
It may look shiny but thats only because its been in the bodyshop.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Unless you like replacing clutches at very low mileage do not buy mobility.
I know a guy who has a mobility car and abuses it "because it's free". I'm not even kidding.0 -

I believe the recent rules change to going to be cutting down on this.0 -

sorry but that's pants. Your one experience doesn't hold the same with the rest of them.
The mrs has one, and it is well looked after, when it goes back it will be immaculate.
The only thing the OP should be sure of is not to assume that a motability car will be any better treated than any other three year old car.
On the plus side, it will have had full dealer servicing and should be below average miles. On the downside, it might have been driven by an old grannie everywhere in second gear and/or only ever been used to nip to the shop and back so in three years the engine has never actually got hot.
Like anything, buy with your eyes open and you should be ok.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

.
This ^^
I've known some be treated like a family heirloom and I've known some be treated with utter contempt.
The worst thing though, is when they've only ever driven half mile down the road and back, this sort of treatment is worse for a car than giving the keys to a boyracer. Such a car will give you nothing but trouble.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

We would never consider buying our Motabilty car at the end of the lease
(apart from the non competitive price) due to the use it has had.
90% of the milage covered has been visiting doctors/dentists/chemists/hospitals and other health professionals /supermarkets/local park etc..
Its a killer for cars.
The model we have (just about to change) is immaculate and will probably be snapped up at the dealers and put on the forecourt.
Three years and 17k - if we were looking at a 2nd hand car, 3 years old, then I would looking for a greater mileage, perhaps giving far fewer problems in the future.0
