If you asked and agreed to accept an iPhone 4, then you get an 8GB model, that is all you can get in them now. In the past they did the 16GB one, but not any longer.
If you want 16GB or more, then you would have to take a newer model, even though you don't want one.

"Turned down as not a techy snob & iphone4 Ok for me"
"Overjoyed to be told they would halve my monthly rate and provide me with a replacement iphone4"
"all I want is the same phone as I currently have, (no fancy upgrades & certainly not a downgrade!)"

You can't get the exact same phone you currently have - so, the question is, did you ask for an iPhone 4, or did you ask for a 16GB iPhone.
Reading your posts and comments about refusing to take a newer version, I suspect that you either specifically asked for an iPhone 4 - without specifying the memory, or you specifically asked not to have a newer model.

Either way, I'd say it was your refusal to accept a newer model that means you have less memory in the phone.

I'm with O2 and on a 24 month contract, paying about £40 a month for unlimited data & texts and something like 600 minutes of calls, including discoutned roaming. Every 2 years I get given a new phone. I take it whether or not I need it. I then sell the old phone to carphonewarehouse, or some of the online places, and they give me £100+ for it.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

The Vodafone rep would have known you had a 16GB handset if they had checked or at the very least known it was not an 8GB model previously based on when you got it. If it is boxed still you could easily sell the phone on Ebay (selling for around 150-200+) and looking at the prices buy an iPhone 4 16GB or a 4S 16GB handset. The prices of these vary so much there are 4S being sold for less than the 4 from some sellers.

You wont be able to get away from your DSR period that is there for you to check your item as it appears you weren't specifically told it was a 16GB model when you agreed. You've held your hand up in a previous post that you made a mistake by not checking it but unfortunately that will potentially cost you the resolution you want from Vodafone. I would cut your losses, sell the phome and buy the one you want before a new iPhone is launched and the price of the 4 drops further.

It wasn't that I was refusing a newer phone/upgrade per se, as if they had told me a direct replacement was no longer available and only 16GB option was 4s then would have taken that as still £15ish cheaper than I was paying.

In fact I would take that option right now and return the unwanted 8GB one & pay more per month.

Naively thought that perhaps the salesperson was there to help guide their less techy savvy customers through what can be a confusing process.

And then of course that is all before the really awful after sales service!!

So maybe I will indeed have to sell this new one, bumble along with the sticky button/accessibility override and look again in summer 2015.

Thanks for all your help and replies
