What about Plusnet Unlimited Broadband and Calls as an alternative?

The costs for a year are...

    £131.88 line rental
    +£4.99x9=£44.91
    +£9.99x3=£29.97
    -£25.00 Plusnet cash back
    -£70.00 Quidco cash back
    TOTAL £111.76

You could still do both on ADSL but the downloads would take longer. Surely £2.50 isn't an insurmountable obstacle if you really do still want cable speeds and can't get FTTC.

£2.50 is nothing to me, but its more the principle. 2 price increases this year, and MUCH better deals for new customers than existing, despite the fact I have been with them for years

I agree with this, it grates me too. Far too many companies become complacent and think existing customers can be treated less favourably than new ones, reasoning that few will be bothered enough to jump ship and look elsewhere. With things as they are more and more people wont be taken advantage of any more and will vote with their feet.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

You have my sympathy and agreement on that one. I may well dump them just for the 2 price rises inside a year too. I'll examine my options next week as I expect there will be a letter from them about the rise as well as the several advertising their services that will have turned up in the three weeks I've been away.

I phoned Virgin Media twice today and both times after entering all my details it warned of a 20 minute wait. As I only have a mobile phone, I don't want my minute eaten by that or to waste my time.

I note that the letter about the price increase didn't even give a phone number but on www.saynoto0870.com I found 0333 000 3101

I had this too but I didn't wait anywhere near 20 mins, maybe 60 seconds

    The number I used was 01264 401402

Exactly. It takes the mick! At least I have something to do on my nightshift! Look around for a new provider!
