Big Fat Vanquis + CPP mess

Hi,
I need some advice before my head explodes.
I have had a vanquis credit card for a few years, originally taken out to improve my credit score but it all went wrong last year and i've ended up on a DMP.
In the mean time i moved house.
I've just got about a years worth of statements from my mums house from vanquis - i overlooked these when changing my address with other companies.
I've noticed every month money being charged to the account for a "Repayment Option Plan" and ID protection.
I phoned the DMP company and asked with the repayment option plan was a way around them not charging me interest any more and was told it was a type of insurance which i needed to cancel.
Next job i phoned Vanquis and got that cancelled. They told me the ID protection was with another company and i needed to call them seperately.
Turns out this other company is CPP. They asked me for a policy number and i was clueless. After 15 min going round the houses they managed to cancel this policy for me and told me it was sold through vanquis and if i felt i had been missold i should speak to them.
I feel ever so slightly like i've been robbed! I know at least in part its my own stupid fault for not checking sooner what was being charged to me and for not understanding that a repayment option plan is not a mandatory charge.
Is it worth me sending a letter to Vanquis complaining or is it all my own stupid fault? This has set my DMP/debt free back by a good few months and i want to cry.
Has anyone had any dealings with Vanquis about this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should send a letter but it is also your fault. These things do not get added in a hidden way. So, you let it happen. However, if Vangquis cant justify the sale then it would be an upheld complaint. So, you may get a refund (to the debt).

Hi I took out a vanquis card to improve my credit score and have now managed to pay it off in full but I was never aware of taking out their Payment protection then a good few months into having the card I noticed money coming off for payment protection, I never ever claimed on it and was hoping that some bright person on here could tell me if I can reclaim it like you can with PPI or do I not have a chance.
Waiting with anticipation on a reply..xxxxxxxxf0 -
If you have the card number and reasons for mis sell, make the claim to Vanquis.0
