Yahoo Messages??

Not sure if this is in the right place. I've just logged into my Yahoo email and found Yahoo Messages flashing, there are about 20 messages in there but I don't use it and have never signed up for it. I clicked settings and I am shown as 'live' but I know I disabled it ages ago. Have no idea what messages is and have never used it, I don't recognize any of the emails addresses in the 20 messages now in the file. Have disabled it again but does anyone know how it got activated or what I can do to make sure is stays deactivated.

Yahoo Messages is also known as Yahoo Messenger. You get it whether you want it or not with Yahoo mail.
You can also go into Yahoo Mail, click the Gear symbol top right -> Messenger Options -> Block all users not in my contact list. The default option is the "Block users in the block list below".
This should ensure if the Messenger becomes available again, you won't get any messages.0
