  • Dont think I will have any more to pay in October so the total saved in mt Overpayment pot is £171.77 for October.

Not a bad start. Maybe November will be even bigger :D. It will need to be if I am going to hit my own target of £1000 before New Years Eve.

Thank you. It doesn't feel like much, but I know every little bit is a little bit less off the total.

Definitely is - and little bits make such a difference to the interest too, using Martin's overpayment calculator has been a big motivator for me.

  • Thanks for the tip.

Have looked at the overpayment calculator, and an OP of £500 a month will mean we are paid off 8 years early with a saving of over £30k in interest (If I am reading it right)

£500 a month is a bit of a stretch right now, but maybe something to aim for if we cut down our expenditure and maximised our savings.

  • Have sorted some stuff out to list on Ebay. All 6 things I listed last week have sold so hopefully I will have the same luck with these. Have also put 4 things on Amazon.

Have been looking at our shopping budget today. We spend about £85 a week for the 5 of us. It would be less but one of my DS's has a milk intolerance and terrible eczema so have to buy soya products and surcare washing powder. However I do think I can shave some money off. I do meal plan, but I think we could eat less meat. I love soups, but the children are not so keen.

We have a water meter and a smart electricity meter so I can keep on top of our spending. Because of DS's eczema I do more washing than I would ordinarily - he wears bandages at night which need to be washed every day, as do his bed clothes. I am trying to ration by dryer use and although the house resembles a laundry room I am using less electricity.

Have had a NSD and I still have £3.00 left in my purse. DH gets paid weekly so its easier to budget in weekly chunks. I get paid monthly and my wages covers the mortgage payments and the council tax. Anything thats left over can then go into our savings account.

  • Woken up super early this morning (5am :exclamati) by our noisy neighbour. Couldn't get back to sleep at all.

Have been thinking about our mortgage balance. If I think about it as a wall, with 1000 bricks worth £120 it doesn't seem so daunting.

So I have already 'paid' for 1 brick :D

Must do some Uni work today, give BG our meter reading and nip to Mr T for some teabags (I may be on a MF journey but I cant scrimp on my twinnings!). I also need to take my youngest 2 children into the opticians to get their glasses tightened after school, without spending £££ while in town. That will be a challenge!

    Welcome!

Loving the brick idea. Will steal that one.

Your DS sounds like he has it tough poor thing.

Good luck with the plans. :money:
