What a strange SOH you do have. Yes have to use silicone to seal up all the cracks in the porc after I've arc-welded the tap to it.

    Cheers

Dont customers mind you using a Arc welder, or do they also like a fake tan? and gritty eyes.

Horses now selected, so off to beddy bows. If you ask nicely i will get you Frankie's autograph for to tomorrow. I'll tag him before the parade ring.

Nobody has yet complained about the quality of my work. He did mention he had a ride today. I suppose Wigan to Chester isn't that far?

BTW Is it really 20 months since you last did a powerflush?

Having a Powerflush, check your fitter spends a min of 4/5 hours doing it. My last one on the 17/12/11 took 11hrs( dam 8mm micro)

I didn't mention your quality of work, i would expect you would do it 100% anyway . Is was the fact that you take your welder into bathrooms:eek:, when a box spanner would do.:D

20 mths since my last powerflush? Na just cant be ar*ed updating my tag etc.
Infact it is about 12mths since my last PF, they are to much like hard now for my old bones. I let my 2 sons(full time served plumbers) do them now, 1 every 3/4 wks

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies and 'lively debate' :D

Well we had the guy come back and replace the washers from beneath the sink to between the tap and the sink. Although he made rather a pigs ear of that, we have since managed to align the washers actually under the taps ourselves.

However (next plumbing query) I had bought, and given him top hat washers to fit beneath the sink between the brass back nuts and the ceramic sink. Upon inspection, it seems he's just pocketed these and not fitted them (which made me ).

Frankly though, I wouldn't have him back to touch our plumbing if you paid me. But I have been told by someone else (who does DIY but isn't a plumber) that you shouldn't have brass back nuts in direct contact tightened against the ceramic sink as it can damage them. Is this correct?

Ideally I would rather have had the top hat washers fitted but I'm so fed up with the whole saga I really don't want to have to change anything yet again, or pay out for someone to come in and do anything more with the sinks, but obviously I don't want to have something fitted in a way that may cause future damage.
