    Yeah. that's the same;)

Yes it is the same thing, I was making the point about opinion presented as fact, in both cases the they were, so it's exactly the same thing.

What if it's revealed that the CPP notification letter was intentionally designed to look like a common PPI letter which was circulating at the time? Do you still think it's impossible the case will be reopened?

No, it very clearly is not.

It won't be "revealed" since no one is even looking into the possibility. The letters were designed in full consultation with the FCA who instructed CPP to make the refunds in the first place

Yes, I absolutely believe the "case" which never was a case will not be (re)opened. The CPP refund scheme was wound up in August 2014.

The article you linked to was just one of many opinion pieces posted on the MSE site over the years. There was a similar earlier article in which MSE were said to be pressing the FCA to extend the deadline for claiming CPP after August 2014. Nothing came of that "campaign" either.

It's 2018 and MSE has moved on to other more recent concerns, I suggest you do too.

It is not simply my opinion that there will be no more post 2005 CPP refunds..

Good for you Moneyineptitude, it's important to try and stick to your beliefs.
I'm going to keep 5 pieces of paper in my filing cabinet until I have another clear out in a few years, and you're going to have to find a way to live with that. :rotfl:

found some old paperwork from my deceased mothers credit card and she had CPP back in 2001.
read on here that you probably have no chance of claiming as the scheme was wound up.

but i thought what have i got to lose trying anyway.

Netted £250 for my dad which he was surprised about.

so my advice to everyone is still try even if the redress scheme has finished.

Read the thread (even a few posts) and you will see that only the post 2005 scheme has been wound up.

Since you were complaining (presumably to your bank) about an earlier period, you didn't make any application to the now long defunct refund scheme.

However, well done on your success. :T

    Hi All,

Sorry to ask a few questions, but with so many comments on here, I'm finding it difficult to ascertain whether I have grounds to complain or not.

I recently noticed that a payment had been added to my Credit Card. On contacting the CC company they advised that the payment was taken by CPP and gave me their contact details.

On contacting CPP, they advised that I have a card protection policy with them and this has been in place since 1997 and was set-up by the Arcadia group and related to a store card.

Clearly 20 years on, this doesn't ring a bell, but assume it relates to a Burton Store Card that I had. I've move around the UK with work and don'r recall ever seeing any paperwork from CPP.

I had to confirm an old address that was years ago and advise on my current address so they could send me the paperwork / policy schedule. They said that I couldn't cancel the policy for this next 12 months as it was after 30 days of the payment being taken.

I'm a bit miffed and annoyed that I'd not picked up this before via my credit card statements but I googled CPP and understand that there has been all sorts of issues relating to mis-selling etc. They taken payments for the last 20 years and I have no supporting paperwork or recollection of it's existence. It has obviously been set up as they have my Credit Card on the schedule (funnilly enough no Arcadia store though, albeit I've not used for years).

Other posts in this thread refer to post 2005 and contacting my bank. As this was set-up by Arcadia, I've googled Arcadia Store card and CPP but there's no results.

Any ideas on if I have a case for complaining / redress?

    Thanks

I have just discovered that my 84 year-old MIL took out a CPP policy in August 2007 which has now ended: this is only due to the fact that her card details have changed in the last year and they wrote to her as they were unable to take the payment from her old credit card. I believe the policy was sold via activation of a new NatWest credit card.
She has no recollection of taking this out and has no recollection of receiving any letters from CPP regarding the compensation scheme; nor am I able to find any correspondence in her paperwork. So I cannot say if they wrote to her or not-but she would have qualified for the compensation scheme given the start date of 8/07.
If a claim is still possible, should this be made direct to the bank, or should I contact the FSO first, as indicated in the board guide to CPP reclaims? That guide suggests that I should try the FSO first, but the text of the template letter indicates that a claim must first be made to the bank before any complaint can be looked at by the FSO, after 8 weeks.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

CPP card and identity protection policyholders were able to claim compensation for mis-sold policies. The deadline for claiming compensation has now passed, and no further compensation claim forms will be accepted.

Read the thread (even a few posts) and you will see that the post 2005 scheme has long since been wound up.
