No such thing as a free ID card for UK ID purposes, Citizen Card is only £13 if hes not going to get a driving licence soon.

Get him a provisional driving license he will be wanting one just now anyway and you can apply for it 3 months before you are 17. It does cost however ! £50 when dd2 had hers 6 months ago. I don't know of any free ones have googled it but the ones that came up looked fake to me and they weren't free either.xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

Provisional licences are not always accepted.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

It depends what he needs it for. If it's specific things, perhaps he could ask what would be acceptable?. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

Lottery tickets, cigarettes, movies, video games I would imagine.
Citizen Cards are almost universally accepted, passports are universally accepted & provisional licenses are widely accepted, all of them cost but ultimately that's the reason they're accepted. Anything which doesn't have an associated cost is open to abuse & falsification.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

ID confirming he is 17 wouldn't be any good for that then.0 -
Check with your local county council or ask at the library
In Essex, there is still a card called a BITE card (Be Identified Through Essex) that used to be given out through school. Now they don't do that but the library has application forms and you can apply for free
My son wants one as he is getting challenged on the bus as to whether he is entitled to child fare0
