Special number for Isle of Man!

I've just joined T-Mobile Flext 35. I just found out that I was charged 20p for sending an SMS to a number starting with 07781. I called T-Mobile Customer services that this number is registered in Isle of Man, and is classified as an international number. Voice calls and text messaging to these numbers will not be taken from my inclusive package. :eek: :mad:

I also raised the possibility that the person might have ported the number to UK mainland. I was told I would still be charged.

Do anyone know about that? If so, are there any other numbers we should be aware of?

07781 is Guernsey in fact. You might also watch out for 07624 and 07924 Isle of Man, 07797 Jersey. There are some other networks as well, but I don't know them.

I think Jersey ones are used on the Millionaire programme, and IoM ones appear in several places, even public bodies in the UK.

Some UK networks may include some of them, but I don't think there is anywhere you can check.

I've just had my bill from 3 - a text to an 07797 mobile number (Jersey mobile ) on 27 Nov was charged outside my call package at 21.3 pence. I don't recognise the number and can't recall any reason I'd have texted it (it's not in my address book on the phone) .... anyone else had this happen ? Is this a possible scam from somewhere? (I occasionally get the odd other unexplained charge on my account but each time its always too small to bother chasing down).
