Why do solicitors have to make things so difficult?

I do have sympathy with conveyancers. Its a stressful job and lets be honest communication is not on there priority list. Most of them are normal people just doing there best.

If they want a quiet life and an easy job, there are other things they should be doing! I have no sympathy for them - they are extremely well-paid, charge clients a huge amount of money for doing very little, and basically sit back and wait for things to happen rather than chasing. Most of us have got stressful jobs, but we still do our work competently and to deadlines. Incompetent solicitors add to everyone's stress, and often are the cause of chains falling apart.
  • I am in exactly the same position right this second EvaCustard and it's staggering beyond belief the incompetence I'm dealing with right now.

I just phoned my sol and was told she was waiting for the vendor's sol to contact her. Why isn't she ******* chasing him up? Then the EA phoned the vendor's solicitor on my behalf only to be told "I'm waiting for her to contact me".

Then two seconds ago she emails me to say she can't do anything until my BUYER'S sol contacts her, yet my buyer says he's been trying to contact her ALL DAY.

    I'm paying £2,500 for this.

Moonraker, yours sounds exactly like mine! Just a bunch of clowns batting clients back and forth, with each blaming the other side. I have BEGGED my solicitor to chase the buyer's solicitor, when she tells me, "I'm waiting to hear" for the twentieth time. No sense of urgency; no initiative to pick up the phone herself and give them an earful.

    Hi,

you really have my sympathy, although our solicitors have been helpful and polite, its only when we chase them do they seem to get a move on and do anything. To be fair its not just our solicitors its the vendors and his chain also.

We are nearly 6 months down the line and still we have no exchange and completion date! I can not tell you how utterly fed up and miserable we have become with the whole process. I will NEVER buy a house again....unless I win the lottery!

It would have been quicker if we had built a house ourselves, brick by flipping brick!

Good luck! I hope you manage to complete within the next few days!
