Thank you for all the helpful information Claire. It certainly sounds like it isn't particularly beneficial to deposit it with the GRO over here, especially if it's not difficult ordering copies from the US before we leave.

The plan is for her to take my name. She sees it as symbolically moving on from the parents who treated her so badly while she was growing up.

It's not a bad idea, thanks for the information. Currently I believe my OH has her heart set on a wedding abroad though and I know better than to argue with her Still, it is useful information for the future since she seems to enjoy gazing at stars

While I would, I don't want to give away too much that would make her personally identifiable, just in case someone she knows peruses this forum. I've no evidence that they do but pictures of her ring might be a bit of a give away.
