Whatever they are, they probably like the damp conditions!! Do you open the window whenever batheing/showering?

yuk! its making my skin crawl googling all the images!!!

they are not fleas and no carpet in bathroom

its not a new house. quite an old one and the only real damp place is the bathroom. reading up on plaster beetles maybe it is them.
thinking about it they only appear once my heating has been turned off and because there is only a big window it isn't left open all day.

am going to try heating the bathroom to see if it helps

    thanks to all

I seem to have the same little critters !! Mainly in my kitchen!!

They are not fleas, and are exactly as described in the OP.

There are hundreds of them.. and my kitchen is only small so usually quite warm.. although I noticed there was quite a few dead ones at the near the south facing window this morning.

Mine is not a new house and I haven't any new plaster, but I have a gap behind the fridge where the skirting board was removed and there is bare brick and a bit of a gap. Could they be 'nesting' there?

How can i get rid of them?? Theyre gettin into all the cupboards and its driving me mad!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o(

    Might they possibly be thrips?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrips

These can sometimes be a problem if there are houseplants present. My plant book suggests Bio Sprayday, malathion or derris for getting rid of them - don't know how up-to-date this advice is, as its quite an old book.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi Lame

No, they are definately not thrips. I don't have any houseplants, and you can't see their legs unless you turn them over. They look a bit like tiny brown beetles, but are about as big as a dog flea. They can fly but very slowly.

thanks jamgirl... i think they might be biscuit beetles !!

Just got to get rid of them now, I'm going to empty my cupboards and throw all opened packets away, then wash down all the insides. What is a safe spray to use in kitchen cupboards?
  • Unfortuneately , mine turned out to be woodworm too. They would appear around May June time in my bathroom. I finally found out what they were when I had to have my flat roof repaired. When the roofer opened things up he found that the !!!!!!s had done a lot of damage to the timbers. They had also been active under the floor. The bathroom is in a ' modern ' extension to the property and my roofer believed the problem stemmed from untreated wood when the extension was built.
Don't ignore the matter .If they are woodworm they can cause sever damage.Good luck !
  • I’ve got these black/silver tiny insects mainly in my bathroom. I’ve seen a few in my bedroom too and I’ve got no idea what they are! I’m terrified of insects and really want to get rid of them asap!!
They seem to only come out when it’s dark and quite (like majority of insects, I suppose), they have these two antennas on their head and something that looks like a “pincher” on the end.
They crawl away fast when the light is switched on.

    Any ideas?
