You are welcome on the on the dla note i was told by one company wouldnt come into consideration but another company disagreed.
All the debt is in hubby's name (I knew nothing about any of the debt until 3 weeks ago) so I'm hoping they will disregard my DLA???
how many creditors ?
One loan and 3 credit cards.
I was paying 450 per month before i said no i cant pay now pay 100. Rest i save i pay off car tax etc outright now rather than plastic and have had odd weekend away.
Really beginning to think that an IVA is the only way forward for us as it will give us both some peace of mind which in turn will help my depression and will help hubby too as if the stress gets too much he could easily lose his job putting us in a situation where bankruptcy would be the only option.

Just been looking at this website for insolvency practitioner reviews
http://www.iva.com/
I've put forward a request for the following companies to contact my husband to see what they think is the way forward as they are among the top five recommended.
Varden Nuttall
IVA Advice Company (Melanie Giles)
Clear Debt
Then I noticed that this website is sponsored by "Vincent Bond & Co" which is a debt management company hubby came into contact with and found that they did not answer questions directly and skirted around what we were asking.
Is there any place for Insolvency Practitioner reviews that aren't sponsored by an Insolvency Practitioner themselves?? Thanks0 -
What do my money steps advise ? I had 4 cc's a massive overdraft when i first started. DLA wasnt for me was for Daughter they wanted to take all of it in consideration tax credits child benefit etc.
I got stalked by Vincent Bond & co for a while i was lucky and spoke to one of them who was very honest with me.
Telling me my partners income etc would be involved.sealed pot challenge 099

Hubby put in all the information to My Money Steps and he said it came up with a Debt Management Plan but no other details as to where to go from there???

Sounds like they are a company to be avoided then?? Hubby spoke to them and was told that my income would be involved. Now worrying about the reliability of the above review website as it was powered by Vincent Bond???0 -

Just found this thread which seems to indicate that you can declare DLA and then list "DLA expenses" to offset this??? My hubby is my main carer and does things like get up with me in the middle of the night and take me to the bathroom as my medication disorientates me; he has to supervise me in the kitchen as I often cut myself or burn myself as my medication slows my reactions down making me liable to hurt myself without him being there. We therefore use DLA partly for leisure purposes as without this relaxation time and a stressful job plus looking after me we both need "out" time in order to survive but wonder whether they would accept "DLA expenses" on a SOA??0

We could only afford £200 a month which would have to make the monthly payments very small with a £26,000 if we would have to save anything towards a full and final settlement??? So wondering if this option is a possibility???0 -
they said they could try put daughters hobbies through but werent sure if they would be able to. DD gets care as she needs constant supervision struggles socially etc. Keep researching. Any PPI you can claim back however old i got 1997 back. I would of been no good on IVA as my circumstances have changed many times got ppi through had large gifts etc and they would of wanted it all.sealed pot challenge 099

No but if we don't get something in place we will have to pay £281 towards the loan and £300 just in minimum payments for credit cards.
Really stressing especially as I've just read that people on DLA are shortly going to have to go to face to face interviews to get transferrred onto the new PEP's benefit. All claimants will be reassessed by 2016. I have to have hubby accompany me on my medical appointments due to panic attacks and the thought of going in front of a medical board who cannot see what is going on inside my head really scares me.
Also if they took my DLA away I question whether we could continue to make payments as just with utilities and mortgage there is no room for food solely on hubby's money. Hence we are living off my benefit.0
