Hi,
I'm asking on behalf of my daughter who has just moved into new home and needs some temp access to the internet while she figures out permanent connection. She'll probably need this for a month or so.
Does anyone have any recommendations for access by dongles please?

I purchased an EE 4g dongle recently for £50 including about a month's data.
About 30 times faster than a normal dongle but you need to check if there's a 4g signal there.0 -
thanks for that. I think if areas aren't covered by 4G it should automatically switch to 3G. However I don't think she can afford £50 for a month

Does she want a WiFi Hotspot for multiple connections or just a single connection for a PC or laptop?
Cheapest WiFi Hotspot is an Orange Huawei E5332 with a 2GB package on a one month contract via Quidco. One would need to give notice to cancel on the same day as activation if you didn't want it to run longer than a month. Unlock for 99p. So £18.49 after CashBack.
To buy one outright will cost around £30, but then you would need to get a SIM and package.0 -
Can't seem to find this NiftyDigits. Any pointers/link please?I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0

She could get a 3GB allowance for a month for £12.50 from giffgaff which she could then insert into a dongle.

Giffgaff 3G is pathetic in comparison to 3 mobile data e.g. here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
You can get the 3 MiFi from Argos, for around £49.00 loaded with 1Gb Pay as you go.0

Cheers all, I'm new to this myself as I've got fixed bb at home and connect via free wifi in cafes etc when mobile for both laptop and (giff gaff) phone.
Am I to take it that if she just requires a dongle for her laptop conection (as opposed to a Wifi Hotspot to connect various devices) then she needs to buy a dongle and a sim card? Also what does it mean if it comes 'pre-loaded' ?I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -
In what way is it pathetic?
Giffgaff uses the O2 network whose 3G coverage is pathetic in comparison with 3 Mobile who have a totally 3G network. There are lots of locations even in cities on motorways/main trunk roads where O2 3G is non existent! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
