Did you actually get any quotes?

shops charge around £3/sqm to fit. So unless your rooms are HUGE, its not that much money for the hassle to be honest. typical bedroom might be around 20 sqm. so thats only £60 per room...

If you want to save money, get your underlay online. u will get for around £2/£3 per sqm for big roll vs around £8 in shops. Keep in mind that when we did this and asked local shop for quote for fitting, they slapped £2 per sqm extra for fitting someone else's underlay. Nothing but greed as they make so much money from underlay. We had ours fitted from carpet right and they didnt charge anything...

My dad and I fitted a carpet on our own in a bedroom. Looked just as good as the professional fitted one in the hallway and didn't cost us a penny :) My dad's mantra is always "measure twice, cut once" and we were fine. It was fiddly too as he'd installed fitted wardrobes and desk and we had to cut all around that. Lasted years :)

i appreciate your effort . but you should believe that a professional could do far better than an amateur does. our company provides some best services that you could imagine. anyway, thank you.

Just don't do it. The cost of a pro for both rooms I probably £50 to £60. It'll take them about 20 min. Room and your cheap carpet will look good.

It's one if the hardest things to DIY. And if you damage th carpet or o. 'Cut short' you are scuppered.

Totally agree, not worth the effort or the risk.

But, if he insists, you can buy a kicker for tensioning carpet from ebay for about £25, tighta*s here made one from 4 x 2 timber with protruding nails:rotfl:

But, if you come home 1 evening to hubby and only 1 toddler, don't try to flatten the bump in the carpet.:D:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

We didnt fit ourselves, as carpet right didnt charge extra for fitting our underlay and you dont get any discount for fitting underlay yourself. so would have been stupid to do so in our case!

Couldn't help it, the image of the op trying to control his 2 rugrats whilst laying a carpet to professional standards just got to me, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
