Thank you very much, I did misunderstand. If this applies just to non chip & pin then it's not so bad

I think I am now sold on izettle. Two more things I think I have discovered is that we can take a photo of the product (ie groomed dog) which appears on the receipt. Also Customer has the option of putting the transaction on their Facebook, which is fantastic advertising and includes location details etc of the business etc.

With regard to the recommendation scheme, if you can
PM me, I will include your details on my application as a thank you for all your time and advice.

As a customer I think the iZettle would ring alarm bells that my card was about to be cloned as it is directly attached to a phone.

Although no different in reality, the Bluetooth connectivity of the PayPal solution means the customer get a separate keypad with a name on it that they at least know, if not trust.

The device is seperate on the chip and pin reader. The old chip and signature reader (which is no longer sold) was the one that plugged directly into the phone.

iZettle is very good - I even pay myself with my Diners card sometimes, just for the novelty of having found a merchant in my area that accepts Diners Club!

"Do you accept DC" I ask myself in the mirror

"Yes I do, with pleasure" comes the reply
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

Haha, when my wallet was stolen last year for two days all I had was my Diners Club (As it was in draw). It was a weekend so I didn't get my emergency amex replacement till the Monday.

Shopping that weekend was fun :P Sainsburys is about the only place I found to use it.

Don't forget that most of the banks offer card processing and devices for much less than quoted here.

Lloyds Cardnet and HSBC are just two examples.

A recent quote from the two above came out very similar for a client of ours, they were 1.2% for CC and 17.5p for DC. His Amex charge is 2.4%.

Machine rental came in at £18p/m for a GPRS one.

These are reasonably average charges as they were very similar to other clients on similar card turnovers.
As already said, I too would be unlikely to use a retailer where the card acceptance in processed through a mobile phone.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
