You don't have to be a "non customer" to raise an issue with the relevant authorities.
    Who said anything about "non-customers"?

I'm sorry I raised this now, I won't bother reporting back if I find a discrepancy.
The point is that there never was a discrepancy in the first place. You aren't a new customer and so aren't entitled to new customer deals. I still fail to see why you even brought up these deals when trying to negotiate a retention deal for yourself.
You do realise that you will have already doubtless had a deal when you were yourself a new customer?

Again, how can they claim the price in 4 months will be £11.25 or in 12 months £22.50 when they know the price won't be? Are you deliberately missing my point so you can talk down to me?

Edit to add - Anyone I speak to from Virgin should be telling me the truth, regardless of their job title?

    Because they're not?
Unless they make you a retention deal that guarantees a fixed price for the minimum term, it's not a fixed price contract. Whatever the CS agent may have told you.

    The OP is right.

Virgin are advertising their broadband only for £22.50 per month after the initial six months worth of reductions.

    http://store.virginmedia.com/broadband/compare-broadband/index.html

They're putting their price up to £25 in October. Nothing on that page mentions this though. So new subscribers will be stung for the new price from March 2014.

Virgin are lying and blatantly mis-advertising. If I could be bothered I'd report them to the ASA.

Feel free, it nowhere states that this price is fixed or guaranteed. Only the initial reductions are fixed.

From the very page you linked to:
Standard prices apply after 6 months and are subject to change

'Standard prices apply after 6 months and are subject to change'

I've just found that but I had to click on the tab marked 'Offers' to see it.

If Virgin were honest and transparent, that statement would be in full view and any imminent price rises would be reflected in their sales blurb. So for example, when they say get 30Mb broadband for £11.25 a month for the first 6 months then £22.50 per month after that what they actually mean is it will cost £25 per month after 6 months.

    http://store.virginmedia.com/broadband/compare-broadband/30mb.html

Virgin know they are putting their prices up from October. Many of their customers know also ( I got my letter yesterday). However prospective new customers won't know because there's nothing about any price increase on their sales page apart from some mealy-mouthed cobblers about prices being subject to change.

Have to agree with that. They are advertising something that nobody can actually get. Sure, if you dig deep enough into the detail, you'll establish that they have a get-out clause, but equally it must be mis-advertising.
Suppose if anybody reports it though, VM will just get told to change it.

I think you are on a sticky wicket to start with trying to make any sense of VM's prices!

I've been a customer of theirs for over 10 years now and it's never made any sense to me ... but I am a happy customer I should point out!

You shouldnt, this should be advertised as a get out of jail free card, ie disconnect whenever you want deal!

I was wondering, with virgin broadband and phone, would i still be able to leave the contract if they put the price up without informing me?
