It is obvious by your evasive answers, that you are doing this (editing not deleting) without having ok'd it with Martin or his team first. If I am mistaken - I apologise but why haven't you said so in the 13 -14 posts this thread has now been going for?
You have invited me to take this further twice now, and as I am getting nowhere here, I shall take it further. It is what I understood to be a cornerstone of MSE that we can name and shame here.
Any moderators task is a thankless one, but you must see why the board has to have one and why sometimes posts have to go?The money, Dave...0 -
Wig, you might find this sub-forum helpful.

When I first joined, I didn't realise that MSE is not a free speech forum, that its run on a shoestring without the owner or his helpers having the time or resource to justify themselves to every user. I'm not saying you don't realise all this, just, that knowing these ground rules makes it much easier for me to understand that sometimes things happen without explanation.
I am questioning Soolin's authority to do what S/he is doing and whether it is in the spirit of the MSE.
To me this kind of censorship makes this place look like the Ebay help boards (on Ebay itself).0 -
To clarify, sometimes a contentious line, or statement is removed from the post as the alternative would be to remove the whole post and that in turn deletes the thread.
Users do object more to having entire threads removed where possibly good advice is beig offered, purely for the sake of one line, so I prefer to leave threads running wherever possible.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.. Please note that Ambassadors are not moderators. Any posts you spot in breach of the Forum Rules should be reported via the report button, or by emailing forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.All views are my own and not the official line of MoneySavingExpert.0 -

Yet again Dave you fail to see the point I am making here.0 -
With a bit of searching around, you can find lots of ebay discussion boards that do offer a Name and Shame section - and yes, they are particularly one sided, however each "culprit" is emailed a link to see if they want to contribute to the comments made against them.
I've never seen one reply...!
It's worth remembering that feedback is not the be all and end all of establishing the seller credentials - where did the feedback come from, is it recent, could it be a from a feedback feeding circle etc?
As for this being a forum of minimal traffic, you'd be VERY surprised at the traffic on this site, and the referrals that it generates!!
I only joined this site after one of my auctions was mentioned, and took 300 page hits in 4 days - I followed the link back from my referring domain report!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
This thread particularly from mpython's link is relevant here.

As Soolin has already rightly advised all posters on this thread, Board Guides are volunteers are asked to assist in the smooth running of the board. Any threads/posts that are felt to be borderline and likely to cause difficulties for the site and its owner can be deleted from public view by a Board Guide on that particular board.I am questioning Soolin's authority to do what S/he is doing and whether it is in the spirit of the MSE.
To me this kind of censorship makes this place look like the Ebay help boards (on Ebay itself).
The matter is then referred to the Abuse Team who will take the ultimate decision and can (and do) reinstate threads/posts, if they feel that they are acceptable.
As advised earlier, anybody that feels actions made by a Board Guide are inappropriate can refer this to the Abuse team using the email address abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
As this has been made clear several times, I am closing this thread.0
