    Debt-free and Proud!
As of today, I officially own my car! I have made my last fiance payment this morning and am finally free! It doesn't feel like it's been two years at all, I love my car and she still makes me smile like she did when I first brought her.

She may not be the newest or the most expensive car, but she is mine and I love her and that's enough for me~

As of next month, I will have another £212 freed up to spend on my debts which will help knock them down even quicker. Between us me and my partner currently pay off £400 a month, as of October it will be £200 a month.

    Bring it on!
Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!

Whoop, whoop to you. Really good news on the car finance. The trick now is to chip, chip away in September so you don't lose momentum. Even a £1 a day will make a difference. Good luck on your February target.

Checked my credit card statement this morning and my big payment is finally showing up. The balance on my Barclaycard is now £601. I think the last time it was this low, I must have been about 18!

I've come such a long way since then and I'm a very different person to who I used to be. Until the last week or so, I used to only be ashamed for letting myself get in so deep but now I'm finally starting to be proud of the changes I've made and the growing up I've done!

I may not be able to change the past, but I'm not worried about that anymore. Now I'm just determined to make my future the best possible!

I'm going to keep doing whatever it takes, I've got such a fire in my belly and I'm not going to let it burn out until I'm done. Selling old things, not buying useless new things, taking full advantage of my piggy banks and sticking to my budget, I'm going to do whatever it takes to keep on rocking!!!!

Thanks for all the support so far, it's been such a huge motivator!!!

  • I visited my partners house last night and at the end of the evening he sent me home with 2 carrier bags of stuff to put on eBay. It's great to have him on board with this, he's been an absolute rock and I physically could not do this without him. He really keeps me going.

I'm hoping his 2 bags full will get us another £200 or so to pay off those nasty debts with!

I also worked out today also that at the end of September, I will have officially paid off my Barclaycard completely. That would mean 2 debts finished and gone within 1 month!!! I can't believe it!

It's all so exciting, I can't even put it into words at the moment, all I know is that being debt free may not be just a distant dream any more, it looks like me and DannyBox are finally making it our reality!

  • Just wanted to Pop on and say you're doing really really well....keep it up!! I must start Ebaying again....

I've subscribed and will keep up with your Journey to Freedom...
  • Well DannyBox got paid this Friday, so another £400 has been paid off our top debt, the barclaycard. To think that it will be paid of in full by the time I get paid off on the 30th is insane! I thought I would never be rid of these debts but look at me now!

Will also be spending the next couple of weeks eBaying again XD DannyBox has donated 46 video games that he is happy to part with in order to raise debt busting funds (we checked completed eBay listings and some of them still sell for between £20 - £40!!!!) and I still have stuff to clear out too!

Here's hoping we can raise another good debt busting amount!

Also, I curiously had a count up of what is in my piggy bank and I'm up to £17 already! Not bad work considering I haven't missed that loose change at all and I would have only spent it on useless things before anyway. I can't wait to see what the total is at the end of the month! Any piggy bank savings from this month will be put into my bank account and used to pay off whatever the top debt is in October.

We're doing so well with the selling and saving side of things as well as keeping up with our usual committed deposits (which are way more than minimum amounts) The next big step is DannyBox looking for and hopefully getting a full time job. His current employer is clearly never going to recognise his dedication and effort, so we both feel he would be best looking for a new job which is full time. Obviously the job market isn't the best, but let's see what happens :)

Wow Annie, your doing a fantastic job! Fab news about your car too. It's all going your way and I'm so pleased Danny is on the same page and helping. That debt free date is getting closer and closer. Well Done x

  • Have you run your debts through the Snowball Calculator, to be sure you are paying them down in the quickest and cheapest order?

Yep, we did that right back at the beginning of our journey (which was way before I began posting here) We actually only have 3 separate debts now, two of which are interest free so the payment order is clear as can be :)

  • I have just found out that I am the lucky recipient of a 3% pay rise at work! Great news for me, hopefully it should be applied for Septembers wages. I have worked out that it will give me an extra £50 a month after tax so I will have even more money to put into my debts every month, which I think we can all agree is fantastic! Now if only DannyBox could secure a full time job, things would be perfect!

eBay auctions doing very well again as well, we are already up to £67 and there are still 3 days left to run. Should break the £100 mark easily, if they finish at up to £150-£200ish, that would be ideal and make us both very happy!

One way or another, I know for a fact now that the Barclaycard will officially be cleared before October sets in. How exciting! As of October, only 3 debts will remain. I just can’t believe how fast everything is moving now!
