I am with AOL (part of talktalk) they sent a letter saying line rental will go up. I am only 4 months into a new contract so rang up they have put me on a new 12 month contract paying 4 months of this for me and after that i pay £16.90 for
12 months contract
Unlimited allowance
Line Rental
Free 24/7 calls (0870 & 0845)
Free international calls
Free caller display and voice mails
The funny thing is i had my first 3 months FREE on my other contract so i am on a win here.Jan Wins: .0 -

Me too. It's gobledegook. My conclusion is that the only way you can get the money back in these circumstances is to stop paying your DD before you close the account, and they would then credit the refund against what you owe on the final bill. Idiotic. No free lunch, and no free laptop

http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/my-account-bills/value-line-rental-renewalWhat will happen with my advance payment if I leave TalkTalk?
You will be entitled to receive a credit of any outstanding balance on your existing Value Line Rental term and a full refund of your unused renewal Value Line Rental term. This may be off-set against any applicable charges after disconnection.0 -
Thanks nodiscount.
I got a response from them indicating that this would be the case as well and was told to call a premium rate number to sort the cancellation out. Used saynoto0870 instead but will call on wednesday to sort it out.
Wish sky and bt would give some better sign up deals at the moment as i'm looking to get tv as well now.0 -
I had the letter from TalkTalk about the price increases and as my 12 month contract is due to finish I rang them to cancel. They offered me Essential Calls and Broadband for £1.75 pm for 12 months and my line rental will remain at £114 for 12 months, so I'm now paying £1.50 pm less than last year, can't be bad.0

I've just had an email saying that their VLR is going up to 126/year from the end of September. My VLR isn't due to end until mid-November, but they say that if I pay now I can get the existing price.
Chances are, many people won't get this email (it's the first one I've had from them in years!), so putting it here FYI.0
