    Other option would be to get a new door fitted, with a higher threshold.

    You can plane about 4-6mm of the door, back to the level of the intermediate reinforcement, that should help you as size is :eek::eek:important.;);)

    If your floorboards are reasonably flat, you could lay hardboard, and then vinyl on top of that.

    Hardboard is only about 3mm thick, and even the best cushion vinyl is only about another 3mm.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
